Pat in Myrtle Beach

PatMB I met Pat when I stopped at the Wilco Hess station on Dick Pond road by the Surfside Walmart for a fountain Pepsi. Yes a Pepsi.  Remember Living Well includes enjoying life. So as it happened I noticed a woman with 3 cases of soda and a case of water (all Coke products on sale).  But she was not struggling to man handle the 4 cases.  She had taken the store employee up on their offer to use a service cart.

I was really encouraged by what I saw.  One simple step along her Live Well Journey.

At check out she received permission to take the cart out to her vehicle, just as long as she brought it back inside.  Again she accepted the offer, taking another step along The Journey. I finished my transaction and headed out to my car, sure that she was well on her way with the rest of her day.

But there she was, moving the items from her waist high cart to the waist high back of her SUV with fluid movement.  Not straining or overextending her posture.  I asked her if she would allow me to take a picture of her and share her wellness encouraging nugget on my LiveWellAmerica.org Blog.  She agreed.  We chatted for a moment about just how wonderful it was that she expressed love and support for who she is  and then she said it – one of the most important keys to living well:

“I know my body”

She went on to share that had the cart not been there, she would have made “two trips” rather than struggle with trying to manage all four cases at one time.  Can you say that?  Would you have given yourself permission to be kind – to yourself?  Do you know your body and listen to your body to ensure every movement you make is in support of and not fighting against your body?  Something as simple and “non-eventful” as using a cart to carry a heavy or awkward load can be HUGE in choosing to Live & Move Well.

Kudos Pat!  Thanks for today’s dose of encouragement.
